Youth convention

Background:

Youth Convention takes place annually in La Crosse, WI. It is a weekend long event with high energy and thousands of students from all over Wisconsin and Northern Michigan. These are the designs I created for the past two years.

 

Goal:

To create excitement and generate interest in teenagers to attend Youth Convention. Apparel is added into the mix to generate sales and ultimately spread more awareness about the event.

Process:

This is a short event with a lot of hype and I start thinking of ideas for a design theme throughout the year. The initial designs start before camp season and develop as the event gets closer. I first think structurally and what elements I would like to see depicted on the poster. After I get some initial shapes, I start playing with different color schemes as I have a lot of freedom with color for this event. I try to keep it fresh and do something new with color. I then pick through fonts for what best matches the feel and add in information. I always add in the photos last and work them in like a puzzle.
