OSCEOLA MAGAZINE

Goal:

Create a fictional magazine design starting with a logo and style guide, and stemming from that, multiple covers and layouts. Articles were provided; photos are mine.

Process:

I started with multiple typefaces and narrowed it down to two: one mainly for the logo, and the other for texts. I wanted to pick a font that had an “O” that was so circular that I could make it a dot that could change colors to match colors. As for layouts, I wanted text to be more than simply text; I wanted the words to create shapes and images themselves. I think magazines are often so rudimentary and I wanted to make something more unexpected.
